Biography

Sofía Arbaiza Martínez is an Ecuadorian animator, visual development artist, and filmmaker based in Brooklyn. She grew up in Quito, Ecuador, to an immigrant family from Cuba and Peru, and moved to Brooklyn to begin her undergraduate studies. She focuses her work on narratives that center around stories of displacement and connection, particularly in immigrant communities. Her Latin American identity is a crucial part of her inspiration as an artist.
