Biography

Marcus Antônio de Oliveira Vilar (Marcus Vilar; Campina Grande, Paraíba, July 5, 1959) is a Brazilian filmmaker. Despite having cinema as a profession, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education at the Federal University of Paraíba in 1981 and specialized in History of Brazil and Paraíba in 2001 at Faculdades Integradas de Patos. Marcus Vilar was born in Campina Grande, but moved to João Pessoa (the capital of Paraíba) when he was still young, in 1976 at the age of 17.
