Theres something rudimentarily attractive about the style of Axel Peterssons sculptures, and this short feature takes us on a lifetimes journey from birth, through marriage and until death of some of his creations. Along the way there are plenty of other characters, all roughly hewn from wood, peppering the story - even some cattle getting amorous. I could have done with a little scale just to put some perspective on the size of these carvings, but just observing their rugged facial expressions, haircuts and clothing makes for quite an interesting appreciation of this mans very natural style of work. There is a narration, a story teller if you will, but I found it was an easy watch without any structure to the documentary. Well worth ten minutes.
