Talk about getting the wrong end of the baton? Rex Harrison is the quick-witted but rather insufferable "Sir Alfred". A renowned orchestral conductor who is married to the glamorous "Daphne" (Linda Darnell). Now their marriage is all going swimmingly until his he starts to get it into his head, after a trip to Europe, that she is having an affair with his secretary "Tony" (Kurt Kreuger) who is, admittedly, a great deal younger and more handsome than him. He becomes more and more obsessed, and as the film progresses Preston Struges uses the music of Tchaikovsky, Rossini and Wagner to underscore the proposed endings that "Sir Arthur" plots for his supposedly treacherous pair.
