Storyline

Snow Carnival is a 1949 short documentary film narrated by Gary Cooper, and supervised by Gordon Hollingshead. It is about the snowy attractions of mid-twentieth century Aspen, Colorado. The film was nominated for an Oscar nominated for Best Short Subject, Two-Reel.

        How, exactly, do you climb under a bench? Well Gary Cooper tries to explain that and an whole lot more in this playful visit to the slopes of Aspen in Colorado, USA. Did you know it used to be a prosperous silver mining town before that market slumped? Now, it has turned its hand to tourism populating its Gay Nineties bar with skiers instead of prospectors. Cooper is clearly at home in this town and on skis, as are many young and old who navigate the multiple slopes - some starting over 11,000 feet up - after theyve braved the really quite rudimentary looking chair lift.
