If Pride had been dreamt up by a screenwriter, no studio in their right mind wouldve backed itminers and queer activists teaming up in Thatchers Britain? Come off it. But because its rooted in truth, its got real bite. I found it a solidly good romp with a banging jukebox soundtrack and just enough political heft to give it weightSection 28, police harassment, the AIDS crisis all get a look-in. Its full of heart, even if the casting lets it down; for a film so full of Welsh characters, theres far too many English (and Irish) actors with wobbly accents.
