Storyline

Set in the heart of a Hanoi winter, 1982 follows Nguyen Thu Yen, a 40-year-old film director whose life spirals into chaos after her family’s entire savings are stolen in a scam. As financial burdens close in—her brother needs money for a wedding, her sister is drowning in debt after a failed real estate deal, and her son's graduation tutoring must be cut—Yen also faces mounting pressure from her film crew, who threaten to walk off the project without pay.
