Unveiling the Jewel of the Black Sea: A Journey to the Genoese Fortress of Sudak. The fortress is a medieval era structure that still stands strong! It is one of the largest fortifications from the Middle Ages. To add to its beauty, its location is a picturesque corner of the Crimea peninsula on the Black Sea coast. The view from the fortress is astonishing - the vast Black sea enclosed by Meganom capes, Ai Foka, Sudak valley and mountains stretching for kilometers! First fortifications were built here by Byzantines in 6th-7th centuries, but the greater part of preserved buildings refers to the Genoese period. The Sudak fortress is one of the most significant and famous sights of the Crimea.
